There’s an exhaustive amount of Disneyland and Disney history out there. As interesting as it can be, sometimes it’s nice to have small glimpses rather than thousand page lists of facts. Here is a nice two minute video of Disneyland in 1956. You might want to view it on the Vimeo site so as to watch a higher resolution (…and the embed code doesn’t work here):

I’m impressed by the quality of the 16mm film! 16mm cameras aren’t exactly pocket-sized, you know, especially compared to 8mm. It’s nice that they lugged a big camera along. My pop sent me the blog post about it.
Speaking of Disney, Kevin Kidney and company recently created a wonderful one-of-a-kind replica of the famously non-existent Hatbox Ghost.
As the story goes, the ghoul was omitted from the Haunted Mansion ride because it was simply TOO HORRIFYING! and would torment the minds of all who viewed him. Actually, the illusion just didn’t work well, so the imagineers cannibalized the ghost for a use in a different attraction.
I’m certainly lucky not to have much money, because if I did, I would spend on profoundly useless things!
